How does the Curve Card work?
Curve is a Mastercard + app that aggregates all credit and debit cards in one, works by pairing cards with it and creating a pair that allows you to make purchases in physical stores or online.
To do this, simply have the Curve Card combined with one of our cards, selecting in the app what we want to use at the moment.
The Curve Card app works well in Portugal, as long as the merchant accepts cards from the MasterCard network.
Who can join the Curve Card?
The card is available to citizens and residents of the European Union, in the list of countries we have: Portugal, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Spain, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece , Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Netherlands (ex Netherlands), Poland, Romania, United Kingdom and Sweden. After installing the app, it is necessary to create the account (never use the special characters, ç, º, €, ~, *, ^, ª, etc, that can generate errors in computer programs, avoid using accent always too) and add credit cards or debit we have, only then will we be able to receive the Curve card at home.
The debit cards you can add are those with a CVV code on the 3-digit back (the back of the card can have a set of 4 digits plus 3 digits, the first 4 are usually the last 4 digits of the card number, the last 3 are CVV).
Each card only needs to be added once, then only when they are exchanged for new ones do we have to add it again.
ATTENTION: After joining wait a week, if you do not receive any contact from Curve, you must open a message in the support to report that the card request is still pending, they will respond to ask for the validation of our identity, photo of the card citizen and our photo with the card, just follow the steps.

For any card that we are going to add to Curve we will have to have balance or credit on it because Curve checks transactions with a small code that is added to the transaction that starts with C - ****** the “*” are numbers and letters that we will have to add to Curve to validate the card we want to add. The money that is withdrawn is usually under 1.5 €/$/£ and is returned the next day, due to the reversal of the transaction, there is no cost for us.
We will have to wait for the transaction to appear reflected in the card statement we added to have the Curve code, as soon as we have it we can go to the card in the Curve app and add the code to validate the card. After that process we have the card added and ready to use.
It usually takes 8 to 12 business days to get the Curve card to your home.

How to activate the Curve card?
After receiving the card at home, the last 4 digits of the card are requested in the app to validate that, the card was received at home.
Make a purchase with chip and PIN at a store and the Curve card is validated.
The main limits of the Curve
- £ 200 limit to withdraw money with a credit card, above that you pay 2% commission, on debit cards this limit does not apply, there is a limit of 10 withdrawals, above that you pay £ 0.50. The limits are monthly per calendar month, they are cumulative to all cards added in Curve.
- Cash recycling (all use of moving money without spending it, putting it back in your account to spend it again and thereby earn cashback or points) is prohibited
- When using Curve you also continue to have the limits or commissions of the card associated with it, you can have cash advance or quasi-cash commissions and even ATM withdrawal fees, etc.
- Curve is considered a debit card by payment terminals, etc. It is MasterCard only. Do not confuse debit or credit types with the MB, MasterCard, Visa, etc. network, as there are debit and credit cards in all of them.
- The limits of payments and withdrawals increase with use, depend on customer to customer, it is normal that in the beginning if you try to make a purchase of high values it can be refused, with continued and exponential use the authorized values will also grow

Tips
- To use the 500 rewards (or 5 pounds, change by clicking on them) of Curve just select the card "Curve Cash" from the list of cards in the app and make the payment up to the conversion limit of 5 pounds, you can do the conversion on www.xe.com, the amount you give can be used up to the cent you can pay, eg € 5.61, ask at a store to pay for the purchase with that fixed amount and then pay the rest of another card. For top up to Revolut only over 10 €.
- Use for 3 months to accumulate the Rewards (points) of the Curve and at the end spend everything together with the bonus of joining.
- Payments in petrol stations on the MasterCard network are subject to a reserve of € 100, which is then refunded and only the amount paid at the terminal is deducted. This money may take a few days to be unlocked for later use, usually between 1 and 5 working days.
- Cashback cards continue to give normal cashback as if using the card alone
- To change the PIN works well at Euronet ATMs
- If, when inserting the Curve, you ask for a 6, 8, 12 digit PIN, enter the 4 digit PIN and press the green key (Enter).
- You can add the Revolut card to the Curve
Does not work / allow
- Tolls cannot be paid, payments at offline or deferred locations are not accepted
Reading the "Curve Fair Use Policy" is recommended.
In implementation the validation "3D Secure" or similar so that Curve is compatible with sites that require this type of additional validation.
I will update as news or more tips emerge.
